As the East Coast battles through the devastation brought on by Hurricane Helen and Hurricane Milton, tensions are escalating across the nation. One voice that has risen above the noise is Devon Mostert, wife of Miami Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert. She has not hesitated to hold leaders accountable for what many feel is a lackluster political response during this time of crisis.

Many wives and girlfriends of athletes have been using their platforms and resources to assist hurricane victims.
However, political leaders, especially at the national level, have often been seen as sidestepping responsibility, focusing on shifting blame rather than action. This sentiment appears to have struck a chord with Devon, who took to Instagram to voice her strong criticism of Vice President Kamala Harris.
The situation escalated after reports surfaced about the Governor of Florida allegedly refusing to take a call from the Vice President regarding Hurricane Milton. Harris, it has been claimed, was accused of politicizing the disaster in light of her potential presidential campaign. Devon, clearly frustrated, did not hold back in her Instagram story, where she stated, “She’s garbage. Textbook trash. No one has time, Kamala – especially not for her to say some bulls**t like, ‘we can be unburdened, by what has been.’” Her words echoed the frustration many citizens have felt in these trying times.
Adding to her emotional post, Devon revealed the personal toll the ongoing crisis has taken on her and her family. She admitted that her concern for those affected by the hurricanes had been weighing heavily on her, leaving her sleepless. In another Instagram post, she shared, “I can’t even lie. My heart is already heavy. I legit couldn’t sleep from 2:30 am to 5:00 am, fell asleep for 30 mins and had to wake up and get the boys ready for school. Thinking so hard about those who had to evacuate their homes and I have no idea if they’ll even come home to one.”
As the Miami Dolphins are on a bye this week, no NFL game will be held in Florida until October 27, when they face the Arizona Cardinals. During this pause, Devon’s candid remarks have sparked conversations about the responsibilities of political leaders in times of disaster, further emphasizing the emotional toll such crises take on individuals and families.
