Back in 2023 following his match at AEW All In, CM Punk was involved in a backstage altercation with “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry. Following this altercation, both Perry and Punk were suspended for a considerable amount of time from the promotion.
While Jack Perry returned with a new gimmick called “Scapegoat”, Punk left the company and found his way back in WWE.
While wrestlers feel that the entire altercation was absolutely unnecessary, Darby Allin, one of the pillars of the company, feels that Perry benefitted the most from the altercation.

Darby Allin talks about Jack Perry and the backstage altercation at AEW All In 2023

In an interview with the New York Post, Darby Allin spoke about the incident that occurred behind the curtains at All In 2023. He said, “If anybody’s benefited from the incident that happened last year at All In, it’s Jack Perry, because now what he is, I feel like is kind of where he always needed to be. Honestly, it sounds crazy, but it’s awesome. Because when he was Jungle Boy, I felt like it was just too hokey and had a shelf life, if that makes sense. Like there was a glass ceiling with Jungle Boy, and then when he first became a bad guy, Hollywood Jack, or wherever the hell he was, it just wasn’t believable. Nothing he was doing was believable. It felt like a horrible made-for-TV Lifetime movie network character.”

Ever since he made a come back to the the promotion, he’s played a wonderful heel character, and has been involved in some memorable feuds, both single-handedly and as a part of the Elite alongside Okada and the Young Bucks.
He’s constantly grown as a character, and has all the potential to solidify himself as one of the top heels not only in the promotion, but in the industry as well.
He’s put up some amazing matches, but its worth noting that his trajectory shot upwards following that incident. He’s got a long future ahead of himself so it will be interesting to see what feuds he gets into in the coming days.
